Children are like sponges, they soak up their surroundings and act them out. If you are happy your child will be happy. If you're tense they will feed off that.
If they view you as stressed then they will carry that with them and express it, in their own shape, form or fashion.
Be careful how your children view you, they will copy you. We must try to be positive sources of energy for our little ones.

US.... I mean USGA OPEN

Father's day has come and gone along with another US Open Golf Championship. 9000 entries were excepted and we have a new Open Champion. Congratulations to Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland. He made the fewest mistakes of the worlds best golfers and won. Or as a few sport writers have said, he messed up the least on Championship Sunday.

Even par once again prevailed at a US Open. The USGA must be proud! They managed to dry out a lush beautiful coastal golf mecca to decide their Champion. The British Open is next month, it seems that this was a four day practice round for the THE OPEN Championship being held at St Andrews in Scotland. If the USGA wants to play on dryed out links projects then maybe they should take the US Open abroad.

I have read more negative comments about this years US Open than any other year. The remarks range from the typical, 'add a clowns mouth to the 14th green and you will have a great putt putt course' or 'this is the worst open I have ever seen'. Some even went so far as to commenting on the non US players winning our countries open championship. One guy posted that we should not allow foreigners to play in the US OPEN. It should only be for americans. You really can't comment on something like that, he is an idiot.

The USGA can however stop killing the golf courses they hold the Open on. Pebble Beach will take a very long time to recover or they can throw a ton of money at it and get it back into shape. Either way it is not needed. PB would have been fine with high rough, narrow fairways and fast greens. It is a crime that the best players in the world could not hold a par five green with a wedge or find the surface of one of the best par threes ever created. The tweeking of US Open courses has gone a little over the edge, they should think about pulling back alittle.

Next year at Congressional they will stress the greens, grow the rough and narrow the fairways. Par fives will be converted to par fours. Areas will be scalped, I meant Mowed to penalize the stray shot. That is fine, but to make the best in the world look like AMs is a little much. You can get an even par winning total with out the sillyness that has been displayed in the past few opens.

Saturday was what everyone wanted to see. Driveable par fours, reachable par fives and just enough toughness to make you think your way around the golf course. Sunday I am sure was not a highly rated US OPEN from a Television stand point. How fast and how much did the ratings drop when Tiger and Dustin were no lnger in contention. How much further when Phil and Ernie decided they didn't want to win. If the US Open is truly our championship, then the USGA should not only except 9000 entries but they should also listen to the countless remarks being posted about the 2010 US Open.

Graeme M. played some good golf this week and will be a good Champion, someone we can get behind. It would have been nice to see him pushed a little more than he was by some the world best.
